Foundation empowers Niger students on menstrual hygiene

The Nikki Udezue Foundation (NUF) has empowered students of the Government Technical College, Kwamba, Niger State, on menstrual hygiene through its “Pad a Girl” project to address poor hygiene among indigent girls. The Founder and President of the Foundation, Mrs Nkeiruka Udezue, disclosed this during an outreach tagged “Pad a Girl Niger State” to the school on Thursday. Udezue said the project aimed to provide sanitary pads and menstrual hygiene education to girls, while sensitising boys on cleanliness and health-related practices. “Presently, we have done this in about two to three schools and reached up to 1,000 to 2,000 students. “This outreach alone is reaching about 1,000 students, including 600 girls who are being equipped with pads,” she said. The Nigeria Police Force has called for stronger partnerships between law enforcement and citizens, stressing that collaboration, intelligence sharing, and community inclusion are vital to tackling insecurity nationwide. This appeal was made during a leadership workshop themed “Collaborative Security and Community Synergy,” organized by the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), a body established to build trust between the police and the public. The Federal Government has urged the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and other Development Partners to collaborate on and support the Renewed Hope Agenda Ward-based Development Programme. Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, made this urgent call during a courtesy visit by the new UNICEF Country Representative in Nigeria, Ms. Wafaa Saeed. The programme, which will focus on tackling poverty at the ward level, is expected to lead to an increase in economic activities and encourage the sufficient production of agricultural produce in the country's 8,809 local communities. Philanthropy  The Nikki Udezue Foundation (NUF), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has called for more philanthropic initiatives and community-driven programmes to make a difference in the lives of Nigerians. The Convener of NUF, Mrs Nkeiruka Udezue, made the call on Saturday during the organisation’s HEAL medical outreach at Pyakasa, a community in Abuja. According to her, development requires the active participation of every citizen. “Every individual has to be the one to make a change in this country. “If we are going to move Nigeria forward, everyone has to brace up, stand firm, stay focused and achieve all that is expected of us. “So more programmes, projects and initiatives are needed to make a difference in Nigeria,” she said.
